POLICE – Loaded shotgun found in backpack after downtown incident
Charges are pending against a 36-year-old man after an incident in the downtown area Monday.
Just after noon, Kamloops RCMP were alerted that a man was acting strangely near the corner of Seymour Street and 6th Avenue. Police found a man rolling on the ground.
“He was acting confused and had difficulty communicating with the officers. One officer noted that he was carrying a small baggie that appeared to have the residue of a controlled substance in it,” said police.
The man was arrested. When his backpack was searched at the detachment, a loaded sawed off shotgun was found.
The suspect is from Kamloops. All evidence has been forward to the B.C. Prosecution Service who will determine charges.
