POLICE – Man arrested with loaded rifle outside downtown library

A man with a loaded rifle was arrested outside the downtown library at Victoria Street and Fifth Avenue this afternoon (Feb. 1, 2018).

The RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services made the arrest of the “suspicious” suspect about 2:20 p.m., and discovered the firearm incidental to the arrest.

A 39-year-old Kamloops man will go before a judge Friday in connection with the incident.

Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said the B.C.  Prosecution Service will assess the evidence and determine any criminal charges.
