POLICE – Hand gun recovered after driver flees Counter Attack road block
An attempt to avoid a Counter Attack road block on Saturday evening (Dec. 9, 2017) resulted in the arrest of one man and discovery of a hand gun in a vehicle.
At about 8:32 p.m., members of the Kamloops Municipal Traffic services were conducting a Counter Attack road block on Seymour Street West when they saw a vehicle turning around in the entrance to BC Lotteries. It fled at a high rate of speed going the wrong way on the one way street and eventually come to a dead end. Two males then fled from the car.
Cst. Mike Scherpenisse said several officers set up containment in the area and with the assistance of a passing motorist, Kamloops Police Dog Services was able to track one of the suspects and he was taken into custody a short distance away.
The man remains in custody on an outstanding warrant for his arrest and police will be recommending several new charges.
As of Sunday morning, police were still searching for the second suspect, described as wearing blue pants, a grey hoody under a black jacket, possibly wearing a black ball cap and carrying a black backpack.
Officers located a loaded 44 revolver handgun as well as a knife in the front of the car.
