POLICE – Purse-snatching suspect arrested after publication of photo
Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a purse snatching.
The arrest came after Kamloops RCMP sent out a surveillance photo earlier today (Sept. 13, 2017) of a suspect in the case. Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said numerous tips were received after the photo was published in local media, and a 37-year-old man is in custody.
He will go before a judge Thursday.
Shelkie thanked the public for its help in identifying the suspect.
The robbery took place near the corner of Third and Lansdowne Street on the evening of Sept. 7. A man ran past an Australian tourist and grabbed her purse. She was not injured in the robbery but was shaken up. A local bystander gave chase but couldn’t catch the thief.
The purse and contents were eventually located a short distance away but the woman’s wallet hasn’t been found.
