POLICE – Target shooter dies after accidentally firing pistol at himself

A 50-year-old Vancouver man died Sunday (June 11, 2017)  in an accident at the Kamloops Target Sports shooting complex on the West Trans Canada Highway.

Police say they were called to the range at 1 p.m.  A man who had been participating in a pistol competition had lost control of his firearm and accidentally fired a shot into his torso.

Witnesses administered first aid immediately and the victim was transported to Royal Inland Hospital by B.C. Ambulance, but succumbed to his injury soon after.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
