POLICE – Prisoner flees while at RIH

A 25-year-old woman will appear in court today (May 8, 2017) in connection with an escape from custody. She also faces charges of theft and obstructing a police officer.

Tasha Nicole Viehofer of Kamloops was remanded in custody after an incident at Royal Inland Hospital. At about 12:30 p.m., an RCMP officer was there with a female prisoner in order for her to be medically assessed.

Cpl. Brand Buliziuk said an unrelated incident required the attention of the RCMP member, at which time the prisoner fled the hospital. General duty members and police dog services were dispatched, and the prisoner was taken back into custody without incident.
