FLOOD – Westwold highway-flooding video; Cherry Creek homes evacuated

Emergency crews were kept busy today (May 5, 2017) trying to keep roads and highways open as creeks and rivers over-ran their banks and drainage culverts, creating problems for property owners and travellers.

This Armchair Mayor video shows the highway just south of Westwold as traffic made its way through a long stretch at about 7:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Thompson Nicola Regional District issued an evacuation order for several properties in Cherry Creek due to “danger to life and health and the flooding of properties.”

A reception centre was set up for residents impacted by the order. An evacuation alert for other properties was expected this evening as well.

Why did the TNRD publish addresses of evaced Cherry Creek homes? I’m sure affected people would have been notified in person.
