CITY – Residents evacuated as state of local emergency declared
Eight residents at 5225 Yellowhead Highway have been evacuated due to sloughing of a hillside.
The City of Kamloops activated its Emergency Operations Centre and declared a state of local emergency, and ordered the evacuation Thursday afternoon (April 27, 2017).
The City has been working with geotechnical experts to monitor the area for several weeks and identified a recent significant change in the landscape causing the City to take action. The sloughing was caused by pooling water.
Residents in the area have been notified and the City of Kamloops’ Bylaw department assisted them with their evacuation. Emergency support services are being offered to those affected.
The City is working with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure as well as Fortis BC and BC Hydro in monitoring and assessing the situation.

What are the potentials for blockage of the highway, the railway and even worse the river????Is tyhere any contingency plans for river blockage???
