POLICE – Man sharpening knife on Kamloops transit bus arrested
A bus is no place to sharpen a knife.
A 54-year-old man has been arrested and is facing numerous charges after sharpening a knife on a BC Transit bus on Monday night.
BC Transit called Kamloops RCMP on Monday (April 17, 2017) at 7:20 p.m. to report that a man on one of its buses was sharpening a knife, which was making other passengers feel uncomfortable. When the bus driver asked him to get off of the bus, he threatened the driver.
The bus pulled over to a bus stop on Lansdowne Street. Police arrived and entered the bus, arresting the suspect without incident.
A four-inch knife and sharpener were found in his pocket. The suspect is being held in custody and will go to court today facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats.
RCMP say the man is from Kamloops.
