POLICE – RCMP seize drugs, cash
Drugs, money and cellphones were seized in a raid at a location in the Tranquille Road business district, police reported today.
Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said that as part of the Kamloops RCMP detachment’s efforts to deal with overt drug use and sales, members of the Street Level Drug Unit paid visits to the 300 block of Tranquille Road on March 15 and 16 (2017).
“Through various investigative techniques, sufficient evidence was gathered and a 39-year-old man from Falkland was arrested for Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.” He was released and will get a date in court.
Shelkie said the following items were seized:
- Over 20 grams of cocaine;
- Over $3000; and
- Cellular phones.
“Any time drugs are removed from the streets it makes our community safer,” Shelkie said. “The work of these RCMP officers in identifying, targeting and arresting the people who supply drugs will have an impact on all citizens.”
