POLICE – Boy has scare in public washroom from man with cellphone
An unaccompanied lad had a scare in one of the public washrooms in Riverside Park on Friday, Kamloops RCMP reported today (Feb. 28, 2017).
Around 2 pm, the boy went into the washroom unaccompanied by a parent or caregiver.
” Once inside a bathroom stall, the boy saw someone reach a cell phone under the bathroom stall. It appeared that the cell phone was recording. When the boy asked the man what he was doing, he said ‘nothing’ and left the bathroom,” police said.
The suspect is described as having a slim build and appeared to be in his 30s, with blonde wavy hair. He was wearing tan-coloured pants and boots that were a light brown at the top with darker brown at the bottom and stretch-laces. After the suspect left the bathroom he walked to a faded red, older model van with a hatchback and drove away.
“Police advise parents to always accompany their young children into public bathrooms rather than wait outside of the washroom for them,” states Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “If your child is a different gender, look for a family washroom to use.”
Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone who can identify the suspect or vehicle from Riverside Park to contact them at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
