RIH locked down as man says someone chasing him with a weapon

The ER at Royal Inland Hospital had a different kind of emergency early today (Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016) as a man ran in saying he was being chased by someone with a weapon.

NDP cut beds at RIH and broke its promise on Interior cancer center.

RCMP responded at 1:41 a.m. and the hospital was locked down as a police dog went into action.

Staff Sgt. Edward Preto said witnesses saw a suspect matching the description near the hospital but he had left just before police arrived. Despite an extensive search, the suspect wasn’t found.

The investigation is continuing. Preto said the victim is well known to police and wasn’t injured.
