Police are still on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver who killed a teenager on Pacific Way Friday night.

rcmppatch2Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said today (Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016) the girl who died in the accident was 16, not 15 as RCMP reported earlier, and that the vehicle involved may not have been a pickup truck as first believed.

A resident who lives nearby heard the collision about 6:45 p.m., went to the scene and immediately called police. The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, died at the scene.

“At this time police do not know what type of vehicle it was that hit the girl, only that it will have damage to the front passenger side,” said Shelkie, adding it might not be a pickup truck as police first thought.

RCMP are asking anyone who has any information about the collision to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
