Two people were arrested and cocaine and cash were seized in a raid on a St. Paul Street house, RCMP said today (Nov. 3, 2016).

Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said members of the Drug Unit and Targeted Enforcement Unit conducted the raid on a home in the 700 block of St. Paul Street last week. She said the residence had been the subject of frequent complaints from homeowners and business owners in the area due to alleged criminal activity.

More than $12,000, 107 grams of cocaine, drug packaging materials and drug consumption materials were seized.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman and a third person is expected to be arrested in the coming weeks, Shelkie said. Both were released with a court date in the future. On Wednesday (Nov. 2) police found both were in breach of the conditions of their release. They were arrested again and are being held to go before a judge.

“Any time drugs are removed from the streets it makes our community safer,” said Shelkie. “The work of these RCMP officers in identifying, targeting and arresting the people who supply drugs will have an impact on all citizens.”
