Mom arrested after foster mother threatened in school parking lot
A Kamloops mom has been arrested after a woman was threatened with a knife outside Kamloops Christian School today (Tuesday, Oct. 4), causing a short lockdown of the school.
RCMP were called to the school’s parking lot at 8:50 a.m.
Police say a foster mom was dropping off two children when their biological mother attempted to take the children. “When the foster mom protested, the biological mother pulled a small blade and threatened her. Someone from inside of the school came to the foster mom’s aid and the suspect fled the area in her vehicle and without her children.”
Because it was unknown where the suspect was or if she had further weapons, the school went into ‘Hold and Secure’ until the suspect was found about an hour later.
The female suspect, 44 years old, was arrested without incident at her residence. She was previously known to police. RCMP are recommending charges of assault with a weapon.
