Greens bring election slate to four
NEWS/ POLITICS — The Greens are in for the upcoming federal election, expanding the slate to four in the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding.
The party announced today that Matt Greenwood will carry the Greens’ colours in the fall election, joining incumbent Conservative MP Cathy McLeod, Liberal Steve Powrie and New Democrat Bill Sundhu on the ballot.
Greenwood ran previously in 2006, and worked on Elizabeth May’s campaign in Saanich-Gulf Islands in 2011. May is Canada’s first Green MP.
Greenwood has an economics and political science degree from TRU, and is one of the instigators of the InCar car-sharing program. He also volunteers with St. John Ambulance, and works for ASK Wellness.
“Matt’s long history of constructive community involvement makes him an ideal candidate for the Greens,” said party spokesman Grant Fraser.
Greenwood said top issues are democratic reform, enviro economy, and reversing “the almost unimaginable damage the Harper government has done to Canada’s democratic, social, economic, environmental and parliamentary institutions and traditions.”
