Be there for Canada Day
Thousands will brave the construction zones and head down to Riverside Park this Canada Day to celebrate with a full day of culture, arts, music and festivities. The day begins with a Lions Pancake breakfast and ends with a colourful display of fireworks.
They can avoid parking downtown and the construction congestion by taking advantage of free transit on July 1. Buses will run on a Saturday schedule.
Environment Canada forecasts a mainly sunny day with a high of 29C.
Back again for its second year is Pedal Parking, where celebrants can hop on a bike, and be a part of an environmentally friendly and active Canada Day. The Scotiabank MS Bike Pedal Parking will be located at the west side of Riverside Park in the Tennis Courts. Between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., bring your own lock, and MS Society will supervise your bicycle for the day.
Take part in the Get Canadian Run, enjoy music at the Rotary Bandshell, watch the Canadian Citizenship Ceremony, peruse Art in the Park or taste international cuisine with the Kamloops Multicultural Society’s Folkfest.
A special thank you to the Kamloops Multicultural Society and the Kamloops Arts Council for organizing the Canada Day festivities, and to BCLC and Heritage Canada for sponsoring this event.
