Progress report on the big projects

Update on the public works projects in Kamloops:

Columbia Street Widening Project
– Crews will start work Monday, June 29 on the south side sidewalk, including prep work and pouring concrete for the curb and gutter between 3rd and 5th avenues. Pedestrians are advised to use the north sidewalk and to use the crosswalk at 4th Avenue to access the south side businesses, or the crosswalk at 3rd Avenue to access the hospital.
– A minimum of two travel lanes on Columbia Street between 3rd Avenue and 6th Avenue will remain open (one each direction).

Overlanders Bridge Project
– Work continues on the west lanes of the bridge deck and west sidewalk. To view project photos, go to https://www.flickr.com/photos/city-kamloops/albums.
– A minimum of two travel lanes on the bridge deck will remain open (one each direction).
– A reminder that the Tranquille Road entry ramp on to the bridge remains closed to all vehicle traffic, with the exception of emergency vehicles, and transit and school buses.
– Motorists are reminded of the 30 km/h posted speed through the construction zone. Please slow down, obey all traffic control signs and personnel, and respect others on the road.

12th Street Road Reconstruction (Tranquille Road to Lethbridge Avenue)
– On Thursday, July 2 there will be full road closures at the intersections of 12th Street and Surrey Avenue, and 12th Street and Moncton Avenue. Detours will be in effect.
– On Friday, July 3 there will be full road closures at the intersections of 12th Street and Selkirk Avenue, and 12th Street and Sherbrooke Avenue. Detours will be in effect.
– The rest of the week may vary between single alternating traffic, two lane directional traffic, and local traffic only restrictions. Please watch for signs.
– Access to Lethbridge Avenue off 12th Street will be maintained.
– The normal construction window is Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:30 pm with additional night/weekend work as required.
– A reminder that, for the duration of construction, bus transit route #2 will be rerouted along 13th Street (northbound) and 11th Street (southbound) between Tranquille Road and Halston Avenue.
