NEWS/ BRIDGE — Two new web cams are now operational on Highway 5 to give drivers a real-time update of traffic volumes on river crossings in Kamloops, Transportation Minister Todd Stone announced today (Friday).

A permanent web cam has been installed on Highway 5 at Halston Avenue with four views, looking north, south, west and east. As well, a temporary camera is located on Highway 5 at Mt. Paul Way with three views (looking north, south and southeast) to aid motorists while the City of Kamloops undertakes work on the Overlanders Bridge.

The web cams can be viewed, under the ‘Southern Interior’ tab, at: http://drivebc.ca/#webcams.

Stone said the cameras were installed to help commuters travelling to and from the North Shore to make plans based on traffic congestion, weather conditions and advisories.

The cameras add to the one already installed by the City at Overlanders Bridge. While the City’s camera live streams, the Drive B.C. cameras update still images.
