Overlanders Bridge overpass to close

NEWS/ BRIDGE — A new wrinkle will be added to the Overlanders Bridge traffic situation Friday as the overpass crossing Fortune Drive at the north end of the bridge is closed for about four weeks. Early-morning commuters arriving after 6 a.m. Friday will find the closure in effect.

BridgemapThe closure will allow resurfacing and repairs.

The traffic signal at Leigh Road and Fortune Drive will be adjusted for left turns off Fortune northbound onto Leigh and right turns for southbound traffic off Leigh onto Fortune.

Flaggers will be stationed at both ends of the Tranquille entry ramp and near the traffic signal on the south end of the bridge. Traffic will continue to be restricted to two lanes on the bridge, one in each direction, with the 30 mph speed limit in effect.

Construction will continue after dark.

The City says the multi-use path on the east side of the bridge will stay open. The Tranquille Road southbound on-ramp is closed through the weekend except for transit, school buses and emergency vehicles.
