City hires TRU’s finance director

NEWS/ CITY HALL — TRU’s finance director is on the way down — to City Hall, that is.

City CAO David Trawin announced today that Kathy Humphrey will leave her job as director of finance at the university to join the City in the same position effective June 1.

Humphrey has been finance director at TRU since 2008. Before that she was with B.C. Lottery Corp. and KPMG.

Trawin said the hiring panel, which consisted of City directors, was “particularly impressed with Humphrey’s escalating level of responsibility” at the organizations where she previously worked and her interpersonal skills and energy levels.

“We are very pleased that Kathy is joining our team,” said Trawin. “She brings new experiences and perspectives to build on the work we do. Our commitment to financial accountability and transparency will be a key responsibility and we are confident Kathy will lead us forward in these areas.”

Humphrey succeeds Sally Edwards, who retired at the end of last year after 16 years with the City.
