NEWS/ POLICE — RCMP interrupted a break and enter at Rivershore golf course early today (Tuesday) but the criminals managed to get away.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush said Kamloops Rural RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at the Rivershore Golf Course at about 2 a.m.

Police were alerted by the alarm company and it is believed that the suspect or suspects were interrupted by police arrival, she said.

“They likely had someone watching for police approaching. Entry was gained by cutting a hole through an exterior wall of the building, and then the suspects made efforts to defeat the motion detectors by covering them up.

“Several golf clubs were bundled and taped together by suspects but were left behind and an attempt to cut into the safe was also made. It would appear that the suspects left in a hurry without taking any items.”

Police are asking anyone who may have observed any suspicious people or vehicles near the golf course or the Lafarge Bridge in the early morning hours to call Kamloops Rural RCMP at (250)314-1800 or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
