Kamloops residents get heads up on brain health

Your muscles aren’t the only things that need a regular workout.

“Healthy aging is important for everyone, and it is essential not to forget the health of your brain as well,” said Tara Hildebrand, the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s Support & Education Coordinator for Kamloops and the Central Interior.

The Society brings its free Heads Up! An Introduction to Brain Health workshop to Kamloops on Wednesday, April 8, offering strategies for actively engaging in protecting and maintaining the brain. “Participants will learn how to set goals for improving the health of their mind, body and spirit,” said Hildebrand.

Anyone interested in brain health is welcome to attend the session that runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Alzheimer Resource Centre, 405 – 235 1st Avenue. Pre-registration is required. For information contact Tara Hildebrand at 250-377-8200 or thildebrand@alzheimerbc.org.

The workshop is free thanks to partial funding by the Province of B.C., Provincial Employees Community Services Fund, RBC Foundation, Seacliff Foundation, Victoria Foundation, Mott Electric GP, Paul Lee Family Foundation, Djavad Mowafaghian Foundation, Frank and Yvonne McCracken Foundation, Kaatza Foundation, Lohn Foundation, London Drugs Foundation, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc., Pfizer Canada Inc., Morris & Helen Belkin Foundation, Bellringer Family Foundation, and through the generous contributions of individual donors.
