“Participants will receive basic information on dementia and the impact it has on the individual, their caregivers and their support network,” explained Tara Hildebrand, Society’s Support & Education Coordinator for Kamloops & the Central Interior.

The introductory session reviews the different types of support available, how to begin planning for the future and strategies for living well.

The session is intended for people experiencing early symptoms of dementia, as well as family members or friends who are currently supporting a person with a recent dementia diagnosis. The workshop is not intended for the general public or health-care providers.

The workshop runs from on April 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Alzheimer Resource Centre, 405 235-1st Ave. Pre-registration is required. For information and to register contact Tara Hildebrand at 250-377-8200 or thildebrand@alzheimerbc.org.

The workshop is free. For more information on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias visit http://www.alzheimerbc.org.
