Your Tomorrow Career Fest aimed to help jobless youth

NEWS — Young people between 15 and 30 will be offered a kick start in seeking work, training and help in develping work search and employability skills at an upcoming event in Interior Savings Centre.

Jobs“We have contacted many organizations directly and are currently working on filling the Interior Community Savings Centre’s Parkside Lounge with vendors who are passionate about providing meaningful career opportunities for Youth in Kamloops,” said Will George, one of the organizers of Your Tomorrow — Career Fest..

He said the unemployment rate in Kamloops for January 2015 was 10.2 per cent. “We have heard from many youth that work in Kamloops is difficult to find and many are forced to move to find meaningful employment.

“This is not the direction that we want to see Kamloops on. In order for Kamloops to thrive into the future we need to provide opportunities for our young professionals in find work locally.”

The career fest will be held March 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employers will be on hand to talk to participants about careers and job prospects.
