Author Murray Dobbin to speak on federal election
NEWS/ POLITICS — The Council of Canadians will host a talk by author and social activist Murray Dobbin on the idea of an NDP-Liberal coalition to defeat the Conservatives in the next federal election.
Dobbin is encouraging federal New Democrats and Liberals to cooperate to defeat the Conservatives.
Anita Strong, chair of the Kamloops chapter of the Council of Canadians, said many opinions have been offered about how to end the Conservatives’ hold on government after the Oct. 19 federal election.
“The Conservatives received about 39 per cent of the vote in 2011 so we know the majority of Canadians voted for other parties,” said Strong. “We invited Murray Dobbin to talk in Kamloops about how the other two main parties can work together to end Harper’s reign.”
Dobbin’s free public talk is set for Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in the Barber Centre, TRU.
