One man arrested for carrying concealed firearm, one still sought

NEWS/  POLICE — Walking on a street with a loaded firearm didn’t work out for two men Thursday night.

RCMPShortly before 10:30 p.m. a Kamloops RCMP officer saw two men walking along a frontage road, one of them carrying a duffle bag with what appeared to be a firearm concealed in it. The incident occurred on the frontage road of the 1800 block East Trans Canada Highway.

When approached by the officer, the man carrying the duffle bag placed it on the ground. As the officer was attempting to arrest them in relation to the firearm, one fled on foot, leaving the bag behind.

The firearm was seized and a 23-year-old man was taken into custody. The second man wasn’t found but police have identified him and will be seeking charges against him, said Cpl. Cheryl Bush. The matter remains under investigation.
