Memorial service Saturday for CVSE officer killed in crash

NEWS — A memorial service will be held Saturday for a Commercial Vehicle and Safety Enforcement officer killed in a highway crash near Valemount on Sunday.

Toni Kristinsson was driving home on Highway 5 near the end of his shift when his patrol vehicle collided with a commercial transport truck. He had worked for the CVSE branch for a little over three years and spent a majority of his time working in the Robson Valley out of the Tete Jaune Inspection Station.

“The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the entire provincial government community is deeply saddened by the loss of Officer Kristinsson, and sends sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” a ministry statement said.

“The CVSE branch is part of a larger community of peace officers throughout British Columbia, Canada and North America.”

A memorial service will be held Saturday.
