Sawed-off shotgun taken from bus passengers

NEWS/ POLICE — A man and woman are in custody after police found a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun in a duffel bag at the Kamloops Greyhound bus depot.

RCMPSgt. Michael Buxton-Carr said RCMP acted on a tip from a member of the public, and the shotgun was recovered from the duffle bag possessed by the couple.

A 28-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from Alberta, will appear before a Justice of the Peace today (Thursday) to answer to charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of recognizance.

“At this time, the RCMP do not believe there was any intent to threaten or harm any passenger or employee of the bus service,” said Buxton-Carr.
