Wounded RCMP officer out of intensive care

NEWS/ POLICE — Cpl. Jean Rene Michaud, critically wounded in a shooting incident during a traffic stop three weeks ago, is out of intensive care.

Kamloops RCMP reported today that Michaud continues his recovery in Royal Inland Hospital.

Michaud was shot during a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Dec. 3. He stopped a vehicle in the Bachelor Heights subdivision area and was shot as he approached the car.

A day long manhunt ensued, leading up to the arrest of 36-year-old Kenneth Michael Knutson.
