RCMP officer shot in early-morning gunfight; suspects and vehicle being sought

NEWS/ POLICE — Kamloops RCMP are at the scene of a police involved shooting incident that occurred at Batchelor Drive and North River Drive at about 2:45 a.m. this morning, Dec. 3.

RCMP cruiserAn officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop at that location when an exchange of gun fire occurred. The officer involved has been transported to Royal Inland Hospital and is currently undergoing surgery for serious injuries.

At this time the vehicle that police were attempting to stop and the occupants have not been located, said Cpl. Cheryl Bush. The vehicle is described as a 1998, four- door, white Chrysler Intrepid with B.C. license plate AF765A attached to it at the time.

Police are asking the public to call if they see this vehicle. The persons associated to the vehicle should be considered armed and dangerous.
