City, TNRD schedule inaugural meetings

NEWS/ POLITICS — ‘Tis the season for local-government inaugurals, and City Hall kicks things off Monday night when the new council is sworn in.

City HallRe-elected Mayor Peter Milobar and councillors-elect Ken Christian, Arjun Singh, Dieter Dudy, Marg Spina, Tina Lange, Denis Walsh, Donovan Cavers and Pat Wallace will take the oath of office at a ceremony in the Parkside Lounge beginning at 7 p.m. at the Interior Savings Centre.

The public is invited to attend.

The council gets immediately down to work, holding its first regular meeting Tuesday afternoon,  which will include deciding who will represent it on the Thompson-Nicola Regional District board of directors.

Council gets six representatives on the TNRD board, chosen by an internal election among themselves.

The TNRD will hold its inaugural Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Sandman signature Hotel’s Cordillera room, with a reception to follow.
