Kamloops Heritage Railway team braves the cold in Santa parade.

COMMUNITY — It was 16 below but Saturday’s Santa Parade warmed more than a few hearts as it wound through downtown Kamloops.

The weather kept some people home but there was a still a good-sized crowd lining the streets. And even though several parade entries cancelled due to the cold, there was still an impressive array of floats, marching groups, animals and decorated vehicles.

The fact so many turned out to participate and watch was a tribute to the Tournament Capital spirit that wouldn’t let a little thing like bone-chilling cold get in the way of the annual Santa parade.

The Kamloops Heritage Railway was deemed Parade Star for its float depicting the historic 2141 locomotive.
