Thousands attend Remembrance Day

NEWS — Thousands filled Riverside Park on Tuesday, standing respectfully on a brisk fall day in honour of those who have served Canada in war.

Some said it was the biggest turnout they’ve ever seen for a Remembrance Day ceremony.

This Remembrance Day was even more poignant than past such ceremonies because of the recent deaths of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent.

The Last Post, the Two Minute Silence, and the traditional fly past by the 419 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, brought lumps to the throats of those in attendance.

Placing of wreaths on the Cenotaph completed the ceremony.
