Police believe thefts of SUV, pickup are related

NEWS/ POLICE — Kamloops RCMP are investigating two vehicle thefts.

They answered a commercial alarm at a vehicle repair shop in the 200 block Victoria Street West about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Extensive damage had been done to the front of the business, and a Chevrolet SUV was stolen.

The SUV was found abandoned a short time later in the Guerin Creek area where another vehicle had been reported stolen. The second vehicle, a Toyota pickup, was also located several hours later in the East Shuswap Road area.

Both vehicles have been towed for a forensic identification examination and the investigation into the break and enter and thefts is ongoing.

It is believed that the thefts are related and police are asking that anyone with information contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
