NEWS/ CIVIC ELECTION 2014 — Incumbent school trustee Gerald Watson says he’s not related to school trustee candidate Christine Watson.

Watson felt the matter had to be addressed in the interest of fairness. “If my supporters think we are connected, odds are some of my opponents do as well.”

One of Gerald Watson’s 10 nominators is also named Christine Watson and this has caused some confusion among voters, he said.

Some voters have assumed the two were brother and sister.

“I moved here with my parents and brother in 1977 from Ontario. I have no other extended family in the area.”

He said he’s not affiliated with any other candidate or organization.

Gerald Watson is seeking his fifth term as trustee.
