Ottawa in lockdown after shooting attacks

NEWS — Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod and Senator Nancy Greene Raine are both reported safe after a series of shooting incidents in Ottawa today.

ParliamentA soldier was reported shot at the War Memorial shortly before 7 a.m. Kamloops time, which was followed by a shooting incident on Parliament Hill. An earlier report of an incident at the nearby Rideau Centre was later said to be inaccurate.

A gunman was reportedly shot and killed at Parliament Hill. Unconfirmed reports also indicate the soldier has died.

McLeod and Greene Raine were in separate meetings in different buildings at the time of the incidents. At this writing, the entire area is in lockdown.

National and international media are continuing to cover developments.
