5th annual Kamloops Writers Festival

The 5th Annual Kamloops Writers Festival Nov. 7 to 9 in the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre at 7 Seymour St. West gives emerging, amateur and professional writers in the Central Interior an opportunity for learning, networking and professional development.

writersThis year’s facilitators are authors Jen Sookfong Lee (history and fiction; keynote speaker), Anne DeGrace (fiction), Garry Gottfriedson (poetry) and Lois Peterson (children’s).

Cost is $105 for Friday night open mike and Saturday full-day conference, including coffee, pastries and lunch (TRU students with valid ID: $75).

Two new items added this year are a Sunday afternoon of free and open-to-the-public readings at the downtown Kamloops Library, plus a bursary program. The Kamloops Arts Council will award one deserving participant free registration for the full weekend. Send an email to info@kamloopsarts.ca explaining your goals as a writer and briefly explain your financial need by Oct. 31, 2014.
