Canadian chamber adopts Kamloops resolutions at AGM
NEWS/ BUSINESS — At the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM in Charlottetown on Sunday, delegates voted to support resolutions from the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
After debate and a vote on each resolution, the majority voted to approve all three of Kamloops’ proposed policies:
• Enhanced access to the Registered Disability Savings Plan for disabled workers — an integrated approach for access to federal and provincial programs.
• The Locked-in Estate Trust — a response to Canada’s coming pension challenges — creating more effective transition of assets through the generations.
• Fines and penalty reform for businesses — reducing late filing fines for small business when an honest mistake is made and heavier fines for repeat offenders.
These adopted resolutions now become part of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s policy manual, which allows it to advocate on behalf of the Kamloops Chamber membership.
