Merritt cowboy dies after fall in rodeo

B.C. Coroners ServiceNEWS — The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a fall at the Redstone rodeo near Alexis Creek on Sunday.

He was Jason Lyle Coutlee, 44, of Merritt.

Coutlee was riding in the mountain race at the rodeo when he fell from his horse. He was immediately taken to the medical clinic at Alexis Creek, then taken by helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital, but died before reaching the hospital.

The B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigate.
