Record number of nominations for business awards

BUSINESS — A record number of nominations has been received for the 2014 Business Excellence Awards.

“This year we received a staggering 468 nominations for 15 award categories; a record for our awards program,” stated Aleece Laird, Kamloops Chamber of Commerce president.

“A total of 179 Kamloops businesses were nominated.”

The 29th annual Business Excellence Awards will be hosted by the chamber and TD Bank Group.

The awards banquet and ceremony is Nov. 1 at the Coast Kamloops Conference Centre.

The timeline leading up to the gala event is as follows:

August – An independent selection committee, comprised of over 40 business leaders, scores each nominee.

Early September – KPMG tabulates the scores and informs the selection committee of the top three finalists in each award category.

Sept. 10 – Finalists are revealed at a chamber function hosted by Kamloops Ford Lincoln.

Sept. 10 – Awards Gala Tickets go on sale to the public.

September – Selection committee interviews all finalists to determine award recipients.

Nov. 1 – Business Excellence Awards Gala at Coast Kamloops Conference Centre.
