One man killed, one injured when hit by train in Valleyview
NEWS/ POLICE — One man was killed and another injured late Wednesday night when they were struck by a CP Rail train.
The incident occurred just before midnight in Valleyview at the intersection of the East Trans Canada Highway and Comazzetto Road.
RCMP found a 49-year-old man dead at the scene. Staff Sgt. D.J. Lucas said the man had recently been released from Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.
A 22-year-old man suffered superficial injuries and was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for medical attention.
B.C. Coroner’s office and CP Police continue to investigate.
“Thus far this appears to be an accident and not a suicide, with the two males walking along the railroad tracks,” said Lucas.
The B.C. Coroners Service and CP police are investigating. Notification of next of kin is pending.
