Witnesses sought after teenager fondled outside washroom

NEWS/ POLICE — RCMP are hoping witnesses who saw a man grab a teenager and fondle her outside the Riverside Park public washrooms Monday will come forward.

RCMPThe incident happened about 5:30 p.m. when, the girl said, a man approached her from behind, put his hand over her mouth and fondled her. She didn’t get a good look at him and couldn’t provide a description.

The assault was interrupted by a woman who was leaving the washroom. When the witness saw what was going on she yelled at the man, who turned and fled on foot.

Police are reminding the public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, even in public settings.

Kamloops RCMP are looking to identify the witness and are asking that she, and any other witnesses to the incident, contact the Kamloops detachment at 250-828-3000.
