Merritt man killed in collision with transport truck identified

B.C. Coroners ServiceNEWS/ POLICE — A man who died after a motor vehicle accident near Merritt last Friday has been identified as William John Jones, aged 75, of Merritt.

Jones was the driver of a pickup truck that was westbound on Highway97C about 3:40 p.m. July 25 about 1.5 kilometres east of Loon Lake. It hit the rear of a transport truck with two trailers, also westbound.

Jones was evacuated to Kelowna General Hospital but died shortly after arrival. The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate his death.
