30 Reasons Not To Be In A Play
ARTS/ ENTERTAINMENT — Stage kisses, pinkeye, inciting World War Three — those are some of the things that can go wrong during the production of a play.
It’s also the stuff of 30 Reasons Not To Be In A Play, currently under rehearsal by Western Canada Theatre’s Stage One Performance students.
The production is described as a full evening of the horrors and hardships that befall those who feel the call of the stage, proving that drama can be a very dangerous thing and must be avoided at all costs.
Instructor Jennifer Jones said there will be three public performances, with admission by donation. All proceeds go to the Henry Vandenberghe Memorial Bursary, a fund that allows students to take theatre school who otherwise would be financially unable to do so.
Acting students in the Stage One Performance Class between eight and 18 learn the rehearsal process, characterization and stage presence.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m. in the Actors Workshop Theatre at TRU’s Old Main Building.
