Invitation to a MaD TeA PaRtY
Get out the crowns and capes. You can expect dancing, singing, face painting (by donation) and even a MaD TeA PaRtY with Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts. Tickets are $20. The annual Downtown Merchant Market hits the streets Wednesday to Friday, July 23 to 26. There is much to see and do during those four days, but the highlight of the week is on Wednesday, when the first-ever Kamloops Car Free Day takes place. It’s an event that draws on the creative energy of all the downtown neighbours to remake and rethink local roadways as places of art, culture and sociability. The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association is closing the 200-, 300- and 400-blocks of Victoria Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow for an expanded Farmers’ Market and the 11th annual United Way Community Carnival where local non-profits will offer a variety of free, family friendly fun carnival games and activities. I hear there will even be a dunk tank, Zumba classes and a bouncy castle. Plus there will be live entertainment for everyone to enjoy. For more information, go to http://www.kcbia.com.
