Man who drowned in Shuswap Lake last year identified

NEWS — The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a boating incident on Shuswap Lake on Aug. 24 last year but whose body was recovered last Thursday.

B.C. Coroners ServiceHe is Kevin William Boutilier, aged 25, from Calgary.

Boutilier and some friends were aboard a houseboat on Shuswap Lake. He and several others jumped into the lake to retrieve a hat that had fallen in, but weather conditions caused the boat to drift away from the group.

Even with help from his friends, Boutilier was unable to return to the boat.
An extensive search at the time was unsuccessful in recovering the body.

This month, the private recovery service, Ralston and Associates, resumed the search and found the body.
