Man, 84, dies in hospital after being rescued from Paul Lake on weekend

NEWS/ POLICE — A Surrey man rescued from Paul Lake after going for a swim to cool off has died.

RCMPRCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush said today police were called to the scene Saturday afternoon after an 84-year-old man became unable to swim.

The man’s wife called for help and nearby neighbours helped get him out of the water. He was transported by air ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital where he died later in the evening. The man and his wife were vacationing from Surrey.

Bush said there’s nothing suspicious about the death and a report from the coroner’s office will follow.
