Police apprehend pair after string of incidents
NEWS/ POLICE — Kamloops RCMP have a 36-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman in custody who will both be facing numerous charges following a string of incidents reported to police.
Thursday, a Ford F350 pickup truck was stolen from a business on Battle Street. A vehicle matching the same description was involved in a residential break and enter at about 9:30 a.m. in the Sahali area, where the homeowner interrupted the suspect in the residence, said Cpl. Cheryl Bus/.
Just before noon, police received a report of two people arguing at the Acadian Inn on Columbia Street and attended that location where they observed the previously stolen truck. The female suspect was arrested at the scene, while a male fled on foot.
Police apprehended the male suspect a short distance away after a brief foot chase. While trying to escape from police the suspect jumped on two vehicles in a parking lot, causing damage to both of them.
Police later executed a search warrant at the room where the suspects were residing and seized items believed to be from other break and enters, Bush said. Some of the items seized were jewelry, identification, cell phones, electronics and a 22 caliber rifle.
Police have recommended numerous charges against both parties and they will be appearing in court today.
