NEWS — The Red Deer Creek fire southeast of Tumbler Ridge has grown to more than 3,100 hectares as crews, helicopters and air tankers try to get a handle on it.

Two oil and gas work camps that were earlier evacuated are reported to have been overtaken by the wildfire.

The Prince George Fire Centre has banned open fires effective tomorrow, Friday except for the Fort Nelson Fire Zone.

The ban will remain in effect until Sept. 30.
